What’s Your Yoga?I believe that everyone in the world can do yoga. In fact, you may be doing yoga right now and you don’t even know it! That’s the beauty of yoga. Yoga rejects no one – it accepts everyone. It encourages you to be yourself and embrace your natural gifts and find discipline in the areas you may be lacking to find an acceptance of your true self.
Since yoga is the science of self-realization then all we have to do is realize a little bit more about yourself each day in order to be practicing yoga. There are as many paths that lead to that self-realization as there are souls in this world. The key to getting closer to this deeper understanding is to slowly get rid of ignorance. Our ignorance of our true Self is what causes all of the suffering we have in our lives. It’s sad, really. If we could slowly peel away the layers of delusion/ignorance, we would see ourselves truly and find peace and happiness from within.
So, this is what yoga is meant to do for me and for you. That is the purpose of its existence. Whether or not it happens to you consciously, it will slowly and eventually you will walk into the right yoga class or meet a teacher that will help you along the way. And, keep in mind that teachers aren’t always who you think they are… your teachers could be your friends, your family, your boss, a stranger. Keep your eyes open and pay attention; lessons are always around waiting to be learned…
