YOGA WORKSHOPS

Simply Sutras

Wonder why your yoga teacher seems to have so much insight?  Chances are they’re inspired by Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.  We’ll explore these ancient teachings: 1 source, 2 approaches, 3 karmas, 4 keys, 5 obstacles, 8 limbs, to discover how they remain relevant and applicable in modern times.  Through an interactive discussion and real-life examples, we’ll learn how to enjoy life…simply.   CEUs: 2 credits

The Subtle Warrior

Do you still question your alignment in standing poses?  The fact is that they require precision revealing the intricate angles and subtle foot positioning that allows you to perfect your form.  We’ll explore the warriors, triangles, side angles and more, giving you the ability to rely on yourself for adjustments and modifications.  Discover the spirit of your practice, standing on your own two feet.  CEUs: 2 credits

The M-Spot: Mini-Uddiyana Bandha

Mysterious, Masterful, Movement.  That hits the M-Spot, the Mini-Uddiyana Bandha.

The M-Spot is that subtle energetic lock which, once tapped into, unleashes an elevated level of practice. It’s a technique that combines ujjayi breath & a form of uddiyana bandha to access a deeper understanding of your potential.  Oh yes, yes, yes, it’s real!   CEUs: 2 credits

Master the Mountain

Samastithi is the rock of any asana practice.  Sama and stithi literally means
Equal Standing Pose; standing evenly with optimal alignment of the spine.  Learn the intricacies which give rise to a higher level of practice.  We’ll explore these subtle movements in detail from the ground up, creating the muscle memory to reach your peak potential.  CEUs: 2 credits

J~u~m~p~T~h~r~o~u~g~h~s~J~u~m~p~B~a~c~k~s

Vinyasas can be frustrating.  Often times, we expect different results from the same action.  This workshop introduces you to a new and simplified approach; step, hop, jump, and float.  By practicing these four fundamental techniques repetitively, you will progress as you never thought you could before.  What’s stopping you from leaping to the next level?

A Yoga Symphony: Technique, Skill and Improvisation for Yoga Teachers

Every great yoga teacher conducts their own orchestra in a classroom! This workshop is based on the belief that there is no one right way to teach. An effective instructor needs a variety of knowledge and skill to access at any moment.  We will focus in-depth on two primary techniques; observation and communication with an emphasis on intuitive, nonverbal, verbal and physical aspects.  Through visuals, demonstrations and team activities, learn all the notes you’ll need to make music in your yoga class.  CEUs: 2 credits for RYTs

OFF THE WALL

Do you feel you have to run to the wall whenever a teacher asks the class to get into an inversion?  That crutch may be due to your lack of confidence in how to do the pose.  That’s easily resolved with knowledge and a guiding hand.  By learning how to fall, we overcome the first hurdle… fear.  From there, we learn the basic techniques in order to demystify inversions such as headstand, handstand and forearm stand. Through conditioning exercises we’ll activate the key muscles necessary to take flight on your mat.       “Live life off the wall.” – Michael Jackson.

Stress… Personified.

Stress much?  Who doesn’t.  Our basic fears manifest themselves into physical discomforts we classify as stress.  Our habitual methods of coping with stress such as alcohol, prescription drugs and unhealthy foods have only added to the problem.  Let’s demystify stress by tangibly defining it, allowing us to take control of our uncomfortable and overwhelming moments. Become Health… Personified!

EX-pectations

Many of us love our partners conditionally and we don’t even know it.  We unconsciously have a need to meet others’ expectations as well as have our own expectations met.  This pattern breeds unhealthy and unrealistic relationships created by layers of societal, environmental, and personal ideals. By accessing these influences, we can begin to uncover existing negative and positive patterns.  Beginning to love yourself is the key to loving others unconditionally.  Living with EX-pectations is a thing of the past. (Asana practice included.)

A Spoonful of Sugar

Do you have a yoga routine?  Same teacher? Same sequence? Same style? What would happen if you mixed things up and found a new recipe for your routine; one with a little more flavor and fun?  In this workshop, we’ll break repetitive patterns safely by experiencing creative poses, visualizations and little sweet surprises, that, without resistance, lead to approaching your practice playfully.

In ev’ry (pose) that must be done, there is an element of fun.” – Mary Poppins

Sight Unseen: Elevating Your Practice

In yoga class and in daily life, we rely on our five senses to process the external world. Unknowingly, we tend to depend on our sense of sight, overlooking the others, and limiting our ability to tap into our sixth sense.  In this workshop, we’ll practice blind-folded, heightening the connection to our breath, movement, and inner guidance.  Focus will be placed on eliminating distraction and uncovering our true potential as yoga practitioners.   We’ll come to find that there’s more than meets the eye.

For intermediate to advanced yoga students.)

(Vive Vinyasa Yoga (English Translation)

Live from your Heart… Empower from your Core.

While the tradition of yoga teaches us discipline and focus, the practice of yoga; however, allows for our own personal expression of joy, movement, and self-exploration.   In this workshop, Rina Jakubowicz introduces us to Vive Vinyasa; a spontaneous sequence of flowing postures, breathing techniques and creative visualizations making us aware of our individual edge within each pose. Her notable teaching style provides a safe platform for new knowledge and a fresh outlook, taking us on a sensory and practical journey.)

Yoga Passport: A Latin-Inspired Evening: Cultura, Cuerpo y Corazon

What trips does your mind take you on without your permission?  It is possible to start to live your path according to your truth.  By exploring dynamic yoga movements to the sounds of Latin American music such as Cuban, Argentinian, and much more, we invite you to set your mind aside to feel your inner rhythm.  Through instruments we get to the sound, just as through the physical we get to the subtle.  Only then, can we transcend from following the noise of our minds to following the music of our hearts.  Viaja Conmigo!
